The Silent Album

When the UK Government proposed allowing AI companies to use copyrighted works for free, over 1,000 UK musicians released a protest album made entirely of silence.

The album featured eerie recordings from empty studios and performance spaces, representing what those spaces would become if AI replaced human artists.

The silent album reached number 38 on the UK charts. The campaign worked! The UK Government backed down from its proposal in March 2025.
