AI policies

Since AI is so powerful and easy to misuse most schools and organisations will have an AI policy to guide students and staff in using it fairly, safely and responsibly. These are sometimes called AI Responsible Use Policies.

An AI policy is simply a document containing a list of rules for how AI should be used.

The rules will be different for different organisations, but they will usually include things like:

  • Don't use AI to cheat on your homework or exams.
  • Don't use AI to create harmful or offensive content.
  • Always check the information generated by AI for accuracy and bias.
  • Be transparent about when you are using AI and how it is being used.
  • Respect the privacy and intellectual property of others when using AI.
