Actors striking about AI

In 2023, Hollywood actors and writers went on strike, mainly protesting about AI.

Studios wanted to scan background performers' images, pay them for half a day, then use those digital replicas however they liked, including to train AI systems without the performers' consent.

The resulting contract required studios to get actors' consent before using their digital likenesses for AI, though many actors felt the protections didn't go far enough.

Other actors like Matthew McConaughey have trademarked their voice and Scarlett Johansson is currently suing OpenAI for cloning her voice.
