Superintelligence

Superintelligence is the idea of a computer that goes beyond human intelligence and performs better than the best human experts across fields such as science, creativity and problem-solving.

If AGI is difficult to define, superintelligence is even harder to define.

AGI and superintelligence are often linked. Some experts believe that an AGI could improve itself and quickly become superintelligent. This rapid change is sometimes called a takeoff.

Will it really happen?

People have predicted superintelligent computers for decades.

Books such as Super Crunchers (2007) predicted that data and algorithms would soon out-think humans at almost everything. Some technology predictions came true, but many did not or arrived much later than expected.

Being excited about AI does not mean believing every claim.
