Other ways to reach AGI

World models are different from LLMs. Instead of predicting the next piece of text, they learn to predict what may happen next in the physical world, such as how an object will move.

They learn from video, images and simulated environments rather than only from text.

Meta's former Chief AI Scientist Yann LeCun created a world-model company called AMI Labs raising $1.03 billion. World Labs, founded by Fei-Fei Li, is also developing world models and raised roughly $1.2 billion total.

LLM companies are still much larger overall, but world models show that making LLMs bigger is not the only proposed path towards more capable AI.
