The future of vibe coding and agents

A growing amount of the world's software will be written by AI.

According to Anthropic : “As of May 2026, more than 80% of the code we merge into Anthropic's codebase was authored by Claude.”

They also say: “In the future, agents could become capable enough to build and train models themselves. If this happens, future versions of Claude could be continuously improved by Claude itself.”

More people will build apps without being expert coders and many people will use AI systems in their jobs.

IDC forecasts that by 2026, 40% of job roles in the biggest companies will involve direct interaction with AI systems.

We will be able to use agents that can use more tools and connect to our browser, our files, our code, our calendar and design tools.

Agents could shift from being tools that are used to being more like AI partners on the job.

The most important skill will be describing the problems and designing the systems that AI agents will solve.
